Hey, if you like ska/punk and aren't doing anything terribly important on your Thursday nights between 7-9 (homework doesn't count) then you should listen to Dave and Joe's Ska and Punk show on the FAU webcast station here.

Listen, call in, request, rock out.

Check out the new community killthe8mm. It suffers from severe lack of membership.

No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai

this week i have decided to take my community seriously=]
So this week's main review is of No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai.

I read this book when I fell into an emotional rut and like most books I immersed myself in the main character; this time was very different though, i actaully felt i connected with him: the nameless protagonist of sorts who seems to just ramble on his life's story which seems as though it should be sad but I didn't know how to feel about it exactly.

based in post-war japan the story weaves a life together that constantly falls apart. he tells his story so detached from humanity I couldn't help but relate. it wasn't even the fact that the character was existentialist and could look outside of ritualistic life, it was that he begin's to make you feel as he does, and when you come to the climax of his life you realize that he was not human... a truely eye opening experience.

osamu dazai tells the story as though it was written in three books written by the main character, but delivers a powerful epilogue and prologue that really tie together the character's life. this book was beautifully told and will stay with me throughout my life. this book isn't for everyone, but I can definitely see why so many people say that its a marker to base post-war japanese literature.

William, thank you for the invite, and may I say, this community is pretty sexy. Although I am not a Pixies fan, the background is gravy.

On Sunday, September 21st, 2003 FISCHERSPOONER will be at the Hollywood House of Blues. It's a sold out show, but my friend Chris and I have THREE EXTRA TICKETS that it turns out we won't be using. If you want the tickets, we can either meet somewhere, bring them to you, or you can come get them from us... regardless, we'll find a way to get the tickets to you. They're $35 each, which is how much we paid for them (including service fee). We don't want to make a profit, we just want people who are going to enjoy the show to have these tickets. Thanks.

Miranda.

heres the drill. look at the background. see the background. listen to the background. discuss the background. if you are thinking about something you want to buy and dont want to end up wasting money just because its obscure. insert a pic of what you want to know about: movies, music, books, etc.

This Week:
Enon's High Society. Please post your review as a new entry with the title 'Enon's High Society.

Thank you
That is all.

I am in photography right now. are we doing anything remotely related to photography? no. we are watching a bad version of robin hood. well, the class is watching this bad version of robin hood. I am writing a post.

I am not even thinking about asking my mother if I can see engine down, cursive, and minus the bear tonite. it is a waste of my time. instead, I will sit in my dark bedroom and watch the limey (which I have been watching in segments each nite around 4 in the morning) and then read about the black death and then take a nap and have nightmares about festering boils on my flesh that I would have probably had if I lived in the middle ages. see? I am such a nice girl, arent I? <3 James.
